A note from me: Opening up space for retainer work I’m excited about
Clarity Operations Consulting is going through a rebrand, and I’m excited to shift focus and open up space for a few retainer projects with mission-driven founders that need support.
When I left my first job at a large university after Oxford, the Dean offered me a “special projects” role. He said I was a “positive, energetic, self-starter,” and he loved how I was proactive about letting others know I was available to help. I took on projects in admissions, student services, outreach, finance, and any other department that needed assistance. As I transitioned from full-time to freelancer, I found myself doing the same type of work for founders:
Researching vendors/platforms and making comparison tables
Turning their content into digestible courses, books, resources
Transforming text-heavy slides into custom PowerPoint decks with animations
Drafting process maps, workflows, and customer journeys to conceptualize program operations
Vetting a new startup or business idea they were previously told didn’t exist
Coding lightweight forms and apps to automate service proposals, scheduling, and invoicing
I was energized by these products, and my career ultimately took me in a different direction, but I’m eager to get back to it!
What I’m offering
So, what does this look like?
It is:
ongoing, consistent, reliable support from someone who doesn’t need training, follow-up or constant hand-holding and grows to intuitively understand and anticipate your needs
A retainer is best when you have a steady stream of ongoing tasks you need help with and would benefit from a reliable partner that understands your systems.
Who’s a good fit
According to my DISC results, my top motivators are learning, helping, and creating beauty in the world, and based on that, I can best support:
Mission-driven founders who work with nonprofits and organizations doing good in the world
Artists, Designers, and Architects who need back-off support
Educators, Speakers with lots of content to be managed
Retainer Menu of Services
Learning & course operations: planning, curriculum mapping, iteration, QA, LMS cleanup, learner experience improvements
